Entrepreneurs – Are You Running a Band-Aid Operation?

Entrepreneurs – Are You Running a Band-Aid Operation?

Have you ever heard of an accidental entrepreneur? Accidental entrepreneurs are excited to start a business because they have great ideas. They piece together a business with available resources. They get a friend to do this, and they make do with that, and when a problem arises, they slap a band-aid on it so they can keep it together enough to just keep going. Whatever their business accidentally turns out to be is what they make do with.

So as an entrepreneur you face a tough decision… Will you keep making do and slapping on band-aids or are you going to get focused clarity on a business strategy that builds a highly successful business that takes you where YOU want to be?

I faced this same juncture early in my business. I had grown a success business as an image consultant and coach. But I wanted to change my brand and the type of work I was doing with my corporate leadership clients, which meant raising my fees and offering a broader array of services. I also needed to change my website, logo, business name, all my marketing materials and signature packages!

I knew that the only way this was going to happen was if I committed to being personally responsible and accountable. This required that I create in myself the success habits I’ve learned from mindset experts and very successful multi-millionaires. You can use these same success habits to rip off the band-aids and create a thriving business.

Yes, it may be uncomfortable, even painful, but it’s the only way to allow healthy growth.

Here are five things you need to get rid of to create a thriving business:

Remove distractions and gain clarity on where you want your business to go. After becoming crystal clear on where you want to go, make a list of what you need to do and tick them off, one task at a time, until you change your entire business.

Remove shortsightedness and focus on not only the present but the future. Be a visionary and think about the big picture. When you think bigger, you magnetically attract bigger, more lucrative opportunities. When you think small, you attract small opportunities. Small opportunities take just as much time, energy and focus to execute as bigger opportunities but they don’t multiply your business profits as fast.

Remove fear and step into your discomfort zone. It’s important to go through personal transformation in order to grow and find out who you really are. Yes, it can be frightening to step into the discomfort zone to deal with your fears head on. But you’ll find that you begin feel more and more comfortable. It takes courage to step into unknown territory. Feeling uncomfortable is a predictable psychological reaction when a quantum leap is underway – it’s actually a very good sign.

Remove indecision and display 100% commitment to doing what it takes to build a successful business. It always takes perseverance, hard work and a positive attitude to zigzag your way to the success. There’s never a straight line but you do what you need to do and not just what’s convenient to your lifestyle. Know that if you want to make $200,000 and you are asking the universe for this goal, then when the opportunities arises in front of you, you can’t make excuses. Otherwise, you want the universe to deliver this great salary on your terms and it doesn’t work like that.

Remove self-imposed limits by shining the spotlight on current beliefs. Are your current beliefs supporting you or are they self-limiting? Negative chatter makes us believe we can’t do something. When we are left to our own devices, we often self-sabotage and think small. That’s why we benefit from coaches or mentors who can help us work through what’s holding us back in our beliefs.

Predictable Results™ Assignment

Take a few minutes to see what aspects of your business are simply a make do, band-aid fix by asking yourself these questions:

  1. Where do I want to take my business?
  2. What aspect of my business – my website, my clients, my services, my VAs – are helping me to get there?
  3. Are any of these stopping me right now from getting to the level I desire?
